GoodFoodNearYou is a new mobile application for BlackBerry and iPhone makes eating out at fast food and casual dining restaurants a healthier experience.
The free service adds several thousand restaurant locations - including smaller restaurant chains, local mom and pop favorites, and specialty health restaurants – to a comprehensive publicly accessible database for location-based restaurant nutrition information.
GoodFoodNearYou is available on the Internet and on wireless devices using GPS including the Apple iPhone and iPod touch and various Blackberry models. The app was developed by Global Fitness Media, founded by fitness pioneer Jake Steinfeld, Chairman and CEO of Body by Jake Global.
How GoodFoodNearYou works
A search on GoodFoodNearYou begins by automatically detecting your location using GPS on your mobile phone or searching when you manually enter a location. The app delivers the lowest calorie food item on the menu for the 20 restaurants closest to your desired location.
Not only can it show the nearest restaurants, but you can view the menus of each restaurant and sort menu items by lowest calories, fat, and carbohydrates. There’s no need to plan ahead and search on the web to see if you can find an online menu and nutritional information - and then bring the printouts with you. You can also save preferred restaurant food and locations by registering for a free account at GoodFoodNearYou.com.
GoodFoodNearYou is perfect for moms who want to find healthier alternatives at restaurants for themselves and their families. Plus, it’s a lifesaver when you’re out and forgot to pack a healthy snack. Now you have no excuse to blow your diet and nosh on greasy fries because you didn’t plan ahead.
